Website development · Toronto and the GTA

Websites you own, and a team that keeps them running.

UXFocus builds and looks after websites for businesses that want control: open-source tools, your own hosting account and your own data. Plus apps and VR/AR web experiences when your goal needs them.

Book a discovery call

A short call about what you want the site to do.

Building websites since 2013.

A website that does a job, not just a brochure

A good website answers three questions fast: is this for me, can I trust them, and how do I get in touch? We build sites around those questions, then connect forms, booking, email and your CRM so every enquiry is captured and counted.

Your website is also where your marketing lands. We build it alongside your analytics, content and campaigns. See our digital marketing

Ownership

Own it. Don’t rent it.

Your website is a business asset. You should hold the keys.

We build on open-source platforms like WordPress, which runs on PHP. Open-source software is built in the open and maintained by large communities. You aren’t tied to one company’s pricing or rules.

  • Your accounts, in your name.

Owning the domain, hosting and site accounts is what lets you change providers or agencies without losing your site. We’ll walk through how that works on the discovery call.

  • Your server and backend, your data.

Your content, forms and enquiries live on a server you control. You can change providers or agencies without losing your site.

  • More say over security.

You choose who has access and how the site is looked after.

About PHP

PHP is a mature, widely used language that runs WordPress and a large part of the web. It’s actively maintained, and what matters is running a supported version. PHP publishes which versions still get fixes. PHP supported versions

Closed builders are a fine choice for some businesses. They’re quick and simple, and the platform sets the features, the price and the rules. Quick-build software can look finished on day one. The risk isn’t how it was made. It’s what happens when no one is looking after it.

Upkeep

No website is 100% secure. That’s why upkeep matters.

No technology is perfectly secure, open-source or not. What keeps a site safe is attention over time. A website needs regular care, the same way a building does.

  • Updates

Software, plugins and the PHP version it runs on stay current. PHP versions stop getting fixes on a schedule, so staying on a supported one matters.

  • Backups

So a problem can be undone.

  • Security checks

Who has access, what’s installed and what needs attention.

  • Speed and forms

A regular look at performance, forms and enquiries, so small problems are found early.

How ongoing care fits your engagement is something we cover on the discovery call.

Applications, VR and AR

Custom applications, too

Some goals need more than a website. We build web applications around how your business works, with the same care for ownership and upkeep. Each one is scoped per project.

VR, AR and 3D on the web

3D viewers, AR views and VR experiences that run in the browser, using web standards such as WebGL and WebXR. They suit brands that want to show a product, a space or an idea in a new way. Each one is scoped per project.

Process

How we work

Every business is different. Integrity and clear communication are not.

  1. Discovery

Who you want to reach, what the site must do and what competitors are doing.

  2. Strategy

Clear goals, the right tools and a plan with milestones agreed up front.

  3. Execution

We design, build and test on a staging site, with your approval at each step. Tracking is set up from day one.

  4. Evaluation

We report on the goal in plain language and adjust from what the data shows.

Getting started

Start with a clear plan

  1. A discovery call

A short conversation about what you want your site to do.

  2. One System Audit

Every engagement starts here: a ranked list of fixes you keep, whether or not we work together again.

    From $2,000 CAD

  3. Web build

A new site or a rebuild, with forms, CRM and email connected, scoped after the audit.

    From $12,000 CAD

  4. Ongoing care and marketing

A Growth System Retainer, with a 3-month minimum.

    From $2,500 CAD a month

All prices are in CAD. Applicable taxes are shown on your written quote. Hosting, domain and ad spend are separate and paid by you directly. Applications and VR/AR work are scoped per project.

Real reviews, left on Google by people we have worked with.

I've had the opportunity to work with Sanj for many years and I can say that he is truly wonderful to work with not only for the products that he produces, but also for the kind and thoughtful way that he relates to his customers. He builds authentic relationships and always delivers a great idea or clever solution to any task. He's a gem.

FAQ

Questions owners ask before they build

Can I update the website myself?

Yes. We train your team to edit pages, posts and images.

Why open-source instead of Wix or Webflow?

Open-source tools like WordPress give you ownership and control: your code, your hosting, your data. Closed builders are quick and simple, and the platform sets the features and price. Both can be the right choice. We’ll tell you which fits you.

Is open-source safe?

No technology is 100% secure, open-source or closed. Open-source code is open to review and well-known platforms are maintained by large communities. Safety then depends on keeping everything updated, backed up and checked.

Is PHP still a good choice?

Yes. PHP is mature and actively maintained, and WordPress runs on it. The key is using a supported version and keeping it updated.

What if I already have a Wix or Webflow site?

If it’s doing the job, keep it. If you’re running into limits on control, flexibility or ownership, we can talk through what moving would involve. We’ll tell you honestly if it isn’t worth it.

Do I own my hosting and my site?

It’s your call. Keeping the accounts in your name is what lets you change providers or agencies without losing your site. We’ll talk through the options on the discovery call.

Do you build apps or VR/AR experiences?

Yes. We build custom web applications and browser-based 3D, AR and VR experiences. We scope them per project.

Will my site work well on phones?

Yes. Every site is designed mobile-first and tested across devices and browsers before launch.

How long does a build take?

It depends on size and scope. We agree the timeline before we start.

What does it cost?

Every engagement starts with the One System Audit, from $2,000 CAD. A web build starts from $12,000 CAD. You’ll get clear options after a discovery call. Prices are in CAD. Applicable taxes are shown on your written quote.

Tell us what you want to build.

If a website, an app or a retainer is the right fit, we’ll say so. If it isn’t, we’ll say that too.
